Course Description:

Participants who attend this course will gain important skills to better understand the importance of wills and trusts in estate planning.

  • Review the many ways an estate can be transferred.
  • Define intestate succession and the probate process.
  • Describe seven essential objectives a will can accomplish.
  • Identify twelve common will clauses.
  • Discover when and how to revise and/or revoke a will.
  • Uncover eight different types of wills.
  • Determine seven common reasons to establish a trust.
  • Distinguish between revocable versus irrevocable trusts.
  • Analyze many different types of trusts including: living trusts, family trusts, charitable trusts, GRATS & GRUTS, life insurance trusts, minor's trusts, testamentary, and other trusts.
  • Compare and contrast wills versus living trusts.
  • Review the three essential steps to creating an estate plan.
